We just wrapped up week three of the 40 Days, meaning we’re halfway through. Here’s a little review of how each part of it is going.
Yoga: This part is going great (-ish). I mean, getting to the classes and finding a parking spot is nuts, but once I’m there, I’m good. In the beginning, I was out of practice. I had cut back on yoga during marathon training and I could feel it. My arms were not ready for that many chaturangas. But after a week it started to get easier. Some classes I feel better than others, but I always feel better when it’s done.
It would be amazing, if I ended 40 days able to do some cool inversions (or Michelle Obama’s arms), but I don’t think that’s supposed to be the goal. But what I have noticed is my technique is getting waaaayy better in all the poses that we do in every class. So while it’s no side crow, I’ll take it.
Meditation: I’m so bad at this one. I forget a lot. Like, a lot. I was doing OK with 5 minutes, but when we moved it up to 10, it was just awful. Such a short time period has never felt longer. But I’m trying.
Meetings and readings: This is one of my favorite parts. I’ve always liked the self-help aspect of yoga. It’s not preachy and it’s always practical. And I love hearing from others at the meetings.
Clean or mindful eating: Meh. Lots of fruits, lots of veggies. The occasional slice of pizza.
Onto week four!
